Booking & Payments

Can I change my booking?

Yes, you can change your booking up to 48 hours before pick-up.
Please contact us using the email address provided in your confirmation email. An administration fee may apply.

Can I cancel my booking?

Cancellations are possible up to 48 hours before pick-up.
If you cancel later and do not have cancellation insurance, the full rental amount may be charged.

How can I pay for my rental?

We accept Visa and MasterCard credit cards only.
Debit cards, cash, personal checks, and Discover cards are not accepted at pick-up.

What credit cards do you accept?

In most locations, Visa and MasterCard are accepted.
The credit card must be in the main driver’s name and have sufficient available funds.

Why is a deposit required?

A security deposit is required to cover possible additional costs such as fuel, damage, extra rental days, or fines. The amount usually ranges between €400 and €1,500, depending on the location and vehicle type. After the vehicle is returned and checked, the deposit is released. Bank processing times may apply.

Can I rent a car without a credit card?

No. A valid credit card is required at pick-up. We do not accept cash or debit cards, as a credit card is necessary for the security deposit.

Pick-Up & Return

What do I need to pick up the car?

You must present:

  • A valid credit card in the driver’s name
  • A valid driver’s license held for at least two years
  • An International Driving Permit if required by local law

Driver’s licenses must be original, valid, and written in Roman characters.

What happens if I return the car late?

Rental periods are calculated in 24-hour units from the time of pick-up.
If you return the car more than one hour late, an additional rental day may be charged at the local daily rate.

Is there a grace period?

Most locations allow a grace period of up to 59 minutes.
After that, an extra rental day may be charged.

What happens if I return the car early?

If the vehicle is returned before the scheduled end of the rental, unused rental time is generally not refunded.
In some cases, you may be able to claim through your travel insurance provider.

Can I extend my rental after pick-up?

In many cases, yes. However, during peak season extensions may not be possible if the vehicle has already been reserved by another customer.

Fuel Policy

What is your fuel policy?

Vehicles are provided with a full tank and must be returned with a full tank. If the car is returned with less fuel, refueling charges will apply according to the local refueling policy.

Will I have to pay for a full tank of fuel?

Only if the vehicle is not returned with a full tank.
Fuel charges depend on local refueling rates.

Insurance & Accidents

Is third-party liability insurance included?

Yes. All rentals include third-party liability insurance as required by local law.

Is personal accident insurance included?

Personal Accident Insurance (PAI) is not included by default. It may already be covered by your personal travel insurance. We recommend checking with your insurer.

Do I have to pay an excess in case of an accident?

If you have purchased insurance that waives the excess, you will not need to pay it. Without such coverage, the excess usually ranges between €200 and €500, depending on the country and vehicle.

What should I do if I have an accident?

You must contact the local addCar partner within 24 hours.
A police report is required for all accidents.
Failure to follow this procedure may affect insurance coverage.

What happens if the car is stolen?

The vehicle is insured against theft. In case of theft, you may be liable for up to 10% of the vehicle’s value, provided all rental agreement conditions are met.

Cross-Border & One-Way Rentals

Can I do a one-way rental?

One-way rentals are available in many locations, both domestically and internationally. Fees may apply. Please contact us before booking to confirm availability.

Can I take the car out of the country?

Cross-border travel is only allowed with prior approval from addCar or the local rental partner. In many cases, taking the vehicle outside the European Union is not permitted.

Rules, Fines & Responsibilities

What happens if I receive a parking or traffic fine?

It is best to pay fines directly.
If unpaid, the fine may be paid by addCar or the local partner and charged to your credit card, including administrative fees.

Am I allowed to drive off-road?

No. Driving off-road voids all insurance coverage. Any damage caused by off-road driving will be charged to the customer.

Can more than one person drive the car?

Yes, but additional drivers must be registered at pick-up. Unregistered drivers are not covered by insurance.
