Can I change my booking?

You can change your booking up to 48 hours prior to pick up. Please write an email to the address given in the confirmation mail. There is a 5€ charge

 

Can I cancel my booking?

Cancellation is only allowed up till 48 hours prior to pick up. If you cancel after that date without insurance you are obliged to pay the full rental fee.

 

If I am late returning the car is there an additional charge?

Rental days are based on 24 hour units, commencing at the time of pick up.

If you return the car late, you will be charged 1/3 of a days rate for each hour late up to 3 hours which counts as a full day.

 

I have booked but have not received my email confirmation?

You will automatically receive an email confirmation. If you have not received an email confirmation please send an email to reservation@addcarrental.com stating this fact. Then we will inquire into the matter.

 

Will I have to pay for a full tank of petrol?

The car will be provided to you with a full tank. If you do not return the car with a full tank we will charge you for the re-filling according to our re-filling chart.

 

Why do I need to pay a deposit when I pick up the car?

To ensure payment for fuel, damages, extra days, penalties etc. we need to take a deposit from your credit card, which in general is between 400 and 500 €. Once the car is returned we will check it and if there are not extra costs occurred we would immediately release this deposit.

 

What is your fuel policy?

The car will be provided to you with a full tank. If you do not return the car with a full tank we will charge you for the re-filling according to our re-filling chart.

 

Can I rent a car if I don’t have a credit card?

No we do not accept cash or debit card. The reason for this is to keep the administration to a minimum by not dealing with cash and to avoid non-payment if the debit card cannot pay for the rental.

 

What kind of credit cards do you accept?

In general we accept Visa, Amex and Master card.

 

Can I book diesel cars?

No, unfortunately the demand for diesel cars is not enough to justify the purchase of these engines.

 

How do I make a complaint once the rental is over?

Please send an email to our president Kristian Kirchheiner at Kristian@addcarrental.com stating your agreement number and your complaint.

 

Can I do one-way rentals?

We accept one-way rentals within most countries and within the Baltic countries, but not to pick up in one country and leave in another. There is always a charge for this.

 

Can I take the car out of the country?

Generally, you must have the consent of addCar rental or our partner to take the car out of the country. However, this is not required within the Baltic countries. You are never allowed to take the car out of the European Union.

 

What do I need to pick up the car?

A valid credit card:

This must have sufficient funds available to cover any required deposit.

Driving licence:

Must be valid and at least two years driving experience. If in non-roman alphabet you must have a translation.

 

Do I have to pay the self-risk in case of accident?

If you have taken an insurance to waive the self-risk you will not have to pay anything. If you are not personally responsible for the accident, the insurance company in most cases will waive the self-risk. However, if you are responsible for the damage and you have not taken an insurance to waive self-risk you will have to pay a self risk of between 200€ and 500€ depending on the country.

 

What do I do if I have an accident?

In the event of an accident or any mechanical difficulties involving your car, it is important that details are reported to our local addCar rental partner within 24 hours. In case you are not at fault we will provide you with another vehicle.

In the event of an accident you must also complete an accident report form by the end of the rental period. Local police should also be notified in the case of accidents and a signed police report obtained. Full details of third parties should also be obtained.

Our local car rental partner must give authority to repair or replace a vehicle. Their name and contact details are shown on your voucher and rental agreement.

You should retain copies of all rental documentation in the event an insurance company is involved. Your insurance cover may be invalidated if this procedure is not followed correctly and this may prejudice any claim for compensation.

A check-in form must be signed on return of the vehicle. Failure to do so may delay the investigation of disputes regarding damage excess charges

 

Is personal accident insurance included?

Personal Accident Insurance (PAI) is cover that protects against losses arising from injury or accident. Should you have an accident during your rental as a driver or passenger your policy will cover accidental death, some medical expenses as well as assistance and rescue. It is not included in your car rental cost, however, it is likely to be covered as standard in your holiday insurance policy. We advise you to check with your individual insurer for full details of what is included under these terms.

 

Is third party liability included?

Yes, all cars are insured with third party liability.

 

What if I return the car early?

If you either chose or had to return your vehicle, prior to the pre-booked completion date, we regret to say that we are unable to refund any of the unused rental time.

Dependant upon the circumstances, it may be possible for you to claim through your travel insurance provider and so we would suggest that you contact them accordingly.

 

Why do I need cancellation insurance?

Sickness, cancellation of flights, traffic jam etc could prevent you from picking up your car. Without a proper insurance we will charge you the full amount of the rental unless you prior to picking up the car have signed up for cancellation insurance.

 

Am I allowed to take the cars off-road?

In case the car is taken off road all insurances are null and void. Further, the deposit will not be released until the car has been thoroughly checked by our maintenance experts. Any and all damages attributable to the driving off-road will be charged to the customer.

 

What if the car is stolen?

The car is insured against theft. In case of theft of the rented addCar rental vehicle or its parts you are liable for 10% of its value. You will be responsible for the vehicle up to full value thereof if, in case of theft, the following items are not returned or other requirements of rental agreement are not observed:

- the keys

- the remote control

-the registration certificate

Theft Protection does not cover radio and other interior accessories

 

What happens if I have parking fine?

Best thing is to pay it your self. If it is not paid by you addCar rental or our partner is liable for the fine and we will pay it and charge your credit card 200% of the value of the fine.

 

Can more than one person drive the car?

Yes, but please state the other driver when you pick up the car. This is important for insurance reason and in case you are being pulled over by the police.

 

Children and safety

In many countries children under 135cm are required to sit in a child seat or booster. You can rent these seats at addCar rental.

 

What if I get lost?

May we recommend that you book a GPS with the car? With this you are never lost.

 

How can addCar have such low prices?

We try to minimize our costs by not having own offices, by not having too many staff, by having only few types of car but of high quality. We never advertise, but entirely use the Internet to spread the happy message.

 

Why do I need to pay for cleaning of the car?

In order to keep the prices rock bottom we give you the opportunity to clean the car yourself which in most cases is cheaper. If you return the car clean inside and outside we will not charge you for this.

 

How can I get an invoice?

We will send an invoice to you by email after return of the car including all details. If this does not satisfy your special needs please don’t hesitate to make us aware of this and we will make any reasonable amendments.

 

Must I have my driver’s license with me?

Yes, we do only accept original drivers licenses which are not expired and in roman letters. We do not accept copies.

 

Once I have collected the car, can I extend the lease?

Generally yes, however in peak season from time to time we have to reject this request if other guests have made reservation and we are out of cars.

 

If I return late is there a charge?

Generally yes, we charge 1/3 of a days charge for each hour up to 3 hours.

 

I never can find your office?

Don’t look. In order to keep our costs to the minimum and be able to serve your with the lowest prices we do not have own offices. In some places with have own cars and team up with a local partner who checks out the cars. Other places we have franchise holders who work for us and in other places we rely on partners to provide the best deal for you. We all have one thing in common: to serve you the best deal with the best service.

 

Icons and abbreviations. What do they mean?

Not all car types are available at all places.

Banner Car: is the cheapest car we use for advertising to keep the rental price as low as possible. We only have reputable advertiser and never accept any offensive adverting

Mini: the smallest car with usually only 3 doors and few extras

Saving Deal and Economy: Suits customers who mostly just need a good inexpensive car. Usually with no extras

Family car and Compact: A larger car with CD player and air-condition

Business Car and Standard: A full size sedan type car. Good for visiting important customers or for those who want a bit extra.

Minivan: a boxcar with seats for at least 7 people.

 

What should I do with paperwork pertaining to my rental?

We advise you to retain any paperwork you receive, including the rental agreement, final invoice, and fuel receipts - this will enable us to assist you in answering any questions you may have

 

What will happen when I arrive to pick up my rental?

Upon arrival at your destination, you will be asked to sign a rental agreement outlining the inclusions and exclusions. Please be sure to accept what you need and decline any items that you don't need or want. addCar cannot refund any charges that are accepted at the time of check out.

Delivery/Collection

addCar or our partners will, for an extra fee, deliver or collect a vehicle from a port office or hotel. This fee is usually calculated based on the distance from the rental location. All deliveries and collections are considered on request

Drop Box

Most of our rental locations have an after hours drop box, which will allow a renter to return their vehicle when an office is closed, after parking it in a spot designated by the rental company. If you should need to use a drop box at the end of your rental, please notify your reservations agent or the rental counter before you pick up your rental car, so they can properly inform you of the process

Grace Period

The amount of time after the 24-hour period that you are allowed to bring your car rental back to the rental agency without being charged for an extra day. Most of our car rental companies will allow at least 30 minutes

One Ways

When a rental car is dropped of at a location that differs from its origin, this is called a one way. The two types of one ways include domestic (within a country) and international (outside of country). While some domestic one ways could be free of charge, there is almost always a fee for doing an international one way. Some rental cars are not allowed on one ways. If you are taking your car rental on a one way, you will be notified if there is an incurred fee

What is Rental Agreement

The contract that is signed by the renter once the rental counter is reached. Typically this contract is in both English and the native language of the country and deals with requisites such as insurance coverage, dates, car size and type, etc. Please note that your email confirmation is not a rental agreement.

What is Rental Period

The time frame for which you are responsible for the rental car. These periods are designated in 24 hour increments and Auto Europe has a 3 day minimum rental period in most cases.

Roadside Assistance

Our rental companies almost always include a 24-hour breakdown and towing service in case your car becomes undrivable during a rental. The phone number for roadside assistance is usually either in the glove box or on your key chain.

 

How can I pay for my rental?

We accept Visa, MasterCard, and American Express only. Keep in mind, Discover Card and personal checks are NOT accepted locally. Unfortunately we cannot accept debit cards or cash at pick up

 

Is an International Drivers License mandatory in Europe?

It is mandatory in several countries and is highly recommended when renting in a country where English is not the primary language
